Blog Format + Know Your Audience

Today, we learned several things from Mr.Paterson like the correct way of formatting our blogs and First of all, one of the most important parts of our blogs is the topic sentence. Although we did go over this last semester, this was very helpful because I'd forgotten about the fact that a topic sentence includes a heading and a claim. It is important to stay on the same topic throughout the paragraph, and to start another paragraph with a topic sentence if you wish to talk about a different topic. From now on, I'll proof read to check if I don't have any sentences that talk about anything other than the thing stated in the first sentence of the paragraph. Afterwards, Mr. Paterson reminded us about the proper way of writing up the body part. It should contain three different examples to support your claim, which should each have at least two sentences to exaplain them.
Secondly, our teacher taught us about the importance of knowing your audience. Depending on your audience, you may talk in a harsher or softer tone, or you may use complex or everyday words. One good example of that is Thug Notes on YouTube. He uses his knowledge on the people on YouTube to enhance his book reviews, which are all spoken in a "hip hop gangster rap" way. It's effective because teenagers, for example, may feel more encouraged to watch it because it's funny and something they might feel connected to. I'd definitely like to think of a way to spice up my upcoming presentations to attract my audience, which is the rest of the students in our class.
